A spotlight on origin

El Salvador is located in Central America on the Pacific Coast, and is renowned for being the smallest country in Central America.

The country is home to many spectacular mountain ranges. The highest peak being Cerro El Pital which soars to the height of 2,730m high.

Initially, indigo was El Salvador’s most important crop for their economy, as they were exporting large units all over the world. However, coffee overtook indigo in the 1880s as their largest export crop, as the country believed it would aid their long-term growth as a country. Then by the 1920’s coffee dominated El Salvador’s economy, making up a staggering 90% of the country’s exports.

EL SALVADOR EL MOLINO BUENA VISTA

Today, coffee still remains as an extremely important crop for the country. There are an estimated 20,000 farms, with 65% of these farms being small and medium-sized. Without coffee farms, the unemployment level would reach sky-high, due to the coffee-farming industry equating for around 135,000 jobs.

This small Central American coffee-producing country creates coffee beans which provide a good strong acidity in their taste. A common characterise of El Salvadorian coffees is their intense sweetness and medium body. They are well-balanced and have a rounded finish, which is why they are a perfect base for many different blends of coffee.
